Big weekend at the BEST Centre
A huge weekend in Colonia Sant Jordi saw 220 Triathletes take to the start line for the Mallorca Olympic, which was host to the Balaeric Championships, while over at the pool, 200 Synchro girls were in the water for the Mediterraneo Open de Sincro.
The Triathlon was a hugely popular event for the athletes and for the town. Germany’s Georg Potrebitsch won the three way finish in 1:45.37, coming home 4 seconds ahead of Russian pro Dmitry Rostyagaev, with Clemens Coenen, also of Germany in third another 16 seconds back. Heather Jackson was a dominant winner in the women’s event.
The Spanish National Junior Synchro team were the star attraction in the pool as they put on a sensational display in front of a very vocal gallery. Synchro is a superb sport to watch and it was a pleasure to host the team this week.
All in all a very busy weekend in Colonia Sant Jordi! We look forward to doing it all again next year!
