BEST Centre full from dawn to dusk
The BEST Centre saw a record number of athletes and teams on camps in the final week of October, 2010. From 07:00 to 20:00 every day, all 10 lanes of the pool were full with close to 300 people using the pool each day, including 8 coaches from the Great Britain senior and junior staff with their club teams.
On the pooldeck were 3 generations of coaches from Maxwell SC: Mick Wakely, Matthew O’Connor and current head coach Kevin Brooks.
There were also 3 generations of coaches from Swim Swansea: Mike Roberts, Pat Blake and current head coach Adam Baker.
The previous week saw teams from Scotland, Denmark, Sweden and England, before all English teams took over the pool from dawn until dusk. Enjoying the superb October weather, the teams were treated to some of the most spectacular sunrises and sunsets of the year.
It was a fitting way to finish the season and the first full year at the BEST Centre.
