GBR in medals in Mare Nostrum

Fresh from their two week camp at the BEST Centre, the British are among the medals at the Mare Nostrum series.

In Monte Carlo, Hannah Miley was too good for the field, winning the 400IM in a season’s best 4:35.06. Miley also took second in the 200IM behind Camille Muffat (FRA).

In Barcelona, Olympic champion and world record holder Becky Addlington clocked the fastest time of the year to win the 800 free. Her 8:21.25 was two seconds clear of world champion Lotte Friis. Fran Halsall won silver in the 50 fly (26.44), as Therese Alshammar continued to dominate the event, posting the fastest time of the year, 25.49.

And Hannah Miley made it two wins in a row with victory in the 400IM in 4:35.26, one second clear of another BEST Centre regular, Spain’s Mireia Belmonte. Miley added silver in the 200IM, stopping the clock in 2:12.99 to finish just behind world champion and world record holder Ariana Kukors (USA) 2:11.24. Her world record is the phenomenal 2:06.15.

World record holder Liam Tancock was a comfortable winner in the 50 back with a time of 25.42, and James Goddard took third in the 200m back.
